We’re Closing the Store – HUGE Discounts!

Yes, that is right. We’ve decided with how hectic our lives our right now that we’ll be closing the store. I am going to continue to sell my stencils and texture tools, but the resale part of the store is going to be closing.

Intoxicating Arts will transform into a place where you can get cardmaking video tutorials, buy stencils, learn techniques on blog posts, and I may occasionally post things for sale if I get a special buy on them. In example, last year I got MINC Mini machines on a special buy so I got some and stopped selling them when I sold out.

To be completely honest, my goal was to sell high quality crafting supplies at a super competitive price. That is exactly what I did but there’s very little money in that ( in fact, I’ve made no money because I’ve invested so much in this business). There was a time when the store was booming but I just don’t have the time (Or I guess don’t want to sacrifice crafty and mommy time) to keep it up to get it where it needs to be in order to be profitable.

I’m saddened but excited at the same time. Once I have this excess inventory gone ,not only will I have an entire room freed up in my house, but I will have more creative freedom and I hope to expand my laser cut lines and make more videos. It’s where my heart wants me to be.

OK, so here’s the deal! We already have all of our items at 15-23& off. That’s a great deal as always, but we are trying to move some product here so we have increased the discounts depending on how much you buy. These discounts are ON TOP OF the already discounted prices. Remember, we have $5.00 flat rate shipping on all orders over $40.00.

Here are the promos that we have going right now:

EXTRA 5% OFF WHEN YOU BUY 2 OR MORE OF ANYTHING (MIX AND MATCH!)

EXTRA 10% OFF WHEN YOU BUY 4 OR MORE OF ANYTHING (MIX AND MATCH!)

EXTRA 15% OFF WHEN YOU BUY 5 OR MORE OF ANYTHING (MIX AND MATCH!)

EXTRA 20% OFF WHEN YOU BUY 6 OR MORE OF ANYTHING (MIX AND MATCH!)

+ FREE 2 DAY SHIPPING ON ORDERS OVER $75.00

NO COUPON CODE REQUIRED

So, the more you buy, the more you save. This applies to every item in our store. We have some brand new items that are super hot right now and you can get this discount on those items. We even have some new Ranger/ Tim Holtz products coming and we’ll be discounting those when they come in.

Laser Cut Stencils -20 Designs Available!

I’ve been making stencils for well over a year now. I will get into a creative roll and then get stuck in a rut. Lately I’ve added 3 new stencils and one old one for a total of 20 different stencils. I will try to continue making more and let you know when I have a bundle of them ready. The best selling stencils are the Pretty Face and Pretty Lady stencil. these are very helpful for adding a face to your art journal. I favor background stencils to use with my cards. If there’s something you are looking for, let me know and I might be able to design it!

To buy a stencil just click on the picture below and it will take you to the auction. To see all of them on one page, just click here!

I should also mention all of our stencils are 4.25 x 5.5″ and they are $3.99. We have a store wide sale of 25% off right now so the stencils are just $2.99. That’s a great deal for a plastic laser cut stencil!

Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastels Review and Techniques

I recently ordered some Prima items and among them were the Water Soluble Oil Pastels. Since one of the boxes came dented up I decided I would keep that one for myself (since the contents were likely damaged- and they were) and write a review about it.

These pastels come in a box of 24 and retail for $20.00. Simon Says Stamp sells them. We also sell them but by the time this blog post goes up we’ll probably only have a couple left

Once I opened my box I got right to work seeing what these worked well for and maybe not so well for.

First technique was general coloring. The pastels are very creamy and would even draw on the tip of my finger. I tried scribbling on a thin sheet of non primed paper and it easily took the pastel. I added some water with my paint brush and it easily made the numbers I had written disappear. They are very soluble even on a non primed surface.

Second technique was mixing with a gel medium. I chopped off the end of one of the pastels with my palette knife and smashed it into some Prima 3D Gloss Gel Medium . It’s not as creamy as a gelato so it took quite a bit of smashing to get it mixed in. I used the red color and you can see the result of me applying it through a star stencil on the picture below on the right.

On the left side of the picture you will notice some light green dots over a purple wash of color. The purple wash of color was added on top of some dried Prima 3D Gloss Gel to see how it would react. I wanted to see if the water soluble oil pastels would stay on that medium or if it would act as a resist. It dried and stayed on it just fine. Then I was able to scribble the oil pastel on a non porous surface and mix in some Liquitex Gloss Gel Medium to create another colorful mixture to put through a stencil. This blended much easier than chopping off the end of a pastel.

For my next technique I thought it would be fun to see how they worked on enhancing texture. I added some Golden Molding Paste to my journal and dried it with a heat tool to create some bubbles and get a lunar type of texture. Then I lightly scribbled on top of the texture, squirted some water on it, and blended it out with my finger. Here’s the effect:

It really gets into all of those small nooks and crannies and really accentuates the texture!

Next I wanted to see how these worked for stamping. This one of my favorite techniques with these pastels and it’s enough to make me happy to own them! All you do is scribble on the back of a stamp and give it a few mists of water and stamp down. You can then use a waterbrush to draw some of the color from the edges to the inside or even grab color directly from the oil pastel to add to your image. Here’s how it came out on 140 lb watercolor cardstock using a photopolymer stamp:

Lastly I tried it on a rubber stamp with 3 different colors to see what would happen and that came out nice too. Here’s what that looked like with a woodgrain stamp:

If you like these techniques then I definitely recommend checking out the Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastels

We’re Expecting Card with Authentique Classique Pretty

This card was a quick one and it showcases some gorgeous papers by Authentique! The papers I used on this card are all from the Classique: Pretty set. We have them for sale on our e-bay store right now. The set we have usually retails for $30.40 but after the already discounted price along with the extra 25% off we have running right now, it’s just $15.75 which is almost 50% off!

prettyauth

To make the letters on the front that say “We’re Expecting” I used the Amperzand font and cut them out of the Authentique paper using my Silhouette Cameo 2. The inside of the card says “a Baby Girl”. I popped the front of the card up using some adhesive fun foam so when the card gets squished going through the mail you won’t see the outlines of foam tape. Such a cool little trick!

This card came together pretty quick and I’m excited for more of my family members to know about our little bundle of joy that’s on the way! Thank you for stopping by.

Thankful Avery Elle & Authentique Card

This card was quick, easy and fun to make! I pulled out some pieces I had previously cut on my Silhouette Cameo 2 and this card was born.

thankful

The Authentique Papers are from Classique: Pretty

The Avery Elle Stamp Set is called Handwritten Notes. I love this stamp set because it has the tiny arrows with words to add as if you were writing it and wanted to add something extra. All of the sentiments are long and horizontal but you can stack them like I did by just inking up the area you want to stamp.

This is what the stamp set looks like:

I used Versamark embossing ink and some brassy gold embossing powder to make the sentiment really pop.

As always, thank you for stopping by!

Lawn Fawn Mom + Me Mother’s Day Card

Here’s a card I made last night for my Mom. This card took me about 35 minutes which is a good time frame in my opinion. There’s times that a card can take me over an hour to complete. This one hit that sweet spot where there’s still coloring and detail but it didn’t take me an astronomical amount of time to complete. A list of supplies will be listed below the pictures.

Here’s the second card I made to announce to family in other states that we’re having our first baby! This card came so naturally to me. I find that I have the most fun making card with spray inks and using my fingers. If it leaves my hands messy then I probably had that much more fun making it!
