Lawn Fawn Thanksgiving Card

Last night I made my first Thanksgiving card for the year. I have to admit, I usually skip right over Thanksgiving and move on to making my Christmas cards. It’s not that I don’t think Thanksgiving is important, it’s just so hard to squeeze everything in with how close all of the holidays are together. I just couldn’t resist using this adorable scarecrow for something though!

many thanks

The sentiment, scarecrow and crows are from the Happy Harvest Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn . The Tree is from the Sweater Weather Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn. That little spot of grass under the scarecrow is from the Critters in the Jungle Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn.

For coloring the scarecrow and crows, I used Ergosoft Colored Pencils and blended using Gamsol with blending sticks. Just lightly color and blend for a nice effect.

I decided that I wanted the outline of the stamps to be grey instead of the typical black and I used Memento London Fog Ink. The other inks that were used are Distress Inks. I used Ripe Persimmon on the sentiment, a mixture of Wild Honey and Fired Brick on the leaves and Walnut Stain for the tree trunk.

Those cute polka dot papers are by Lawn Fawn and they’re called Let’s Polka, Mon Amie . To paper piece and make the dots line up when using multiple papers, just cut the paper small and make sure you stamp the scarecrow at about the same spot. I don’t have the dies for this set, so everything was fussy cut (a.k.a. cut by hand with scissors).

I hope you enjoyed seeing my card. I did use a few Amazon affiliate links in this post. If you end up purchasing any other products, I get a very small commission. Intoxicating Arts also sells some of these products and those have been linked too. Thanks for stopping by!

A Fintastic Thank You Card – Using Scraps as a Border

If you follow my blog, then you know that I recently had a Birthday. I received some gifts from my relatives that live in another state, so it’s a great time to be able to make a thank you card! I also used scraps from a new Lawn Fawn Paper to make a border. It just required a little extra cutting and the use of sequins to cover up spots where glue seeped under.

This one is for my Grandma and I used 3 different Lawn Fawn stamp sets to create this card. I’ll post the picture and then a list of supplies with links below.

Lawn Fawn Baby Shower Card

This weekend is one of my best friend’s baby showers and I got a card done for her.

I used Lawn Fawn Papers, Lawn Fawn’s Hello Baby stamp set , our NEW Staggered Lines Stencil, Luster Mica Powder in Blue Ice, Peacock Feathers Distress Ink, a white A2 card base, Liquitex Professional Gloss Super Heavy Gel
, a palette knife, black pigment ink, acrylic stamping block, cosmetic sponge, and a blue rhinestone.

You can see the staggered lines stencil in the background. The Blue Ice Luster Mica Powder gives it a nice subtle shimmer. This color is much more vibrant on a black background. I also used a cosmetic sponge to add it to the edges of the patterned papers.

Here’s a youtube video showing the whole process :

Coffee Lovers Bloghop for National Coffee Day!

Today is National Coffee Day and I had the PERFECT stamp set to celebrate with! Lawn Fawn’s Love you a Latte set.

Which looks like this,

Love you a Latte

I wanted to make it look like the coffee mugs were sitting on a granite counter top, so I tried making a counter top by marbling my Luster Mica Spray Mists. I used Hawaiian Shores and Black Sand Beach. To get them to marble all you need to do is spray them and then spray water while you are drying it with a heat tool. I use the heat tool and water simultaneously to move the Luster Spray Mist in the desired direction. I stamped the mugs using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Spectrum Noire Alcohol Markers. I will warn you that I know nothing about alcohol ink coloring. I gave it my best shot, but I feel that I failed miserably. The faces I used are actually from another Lawn Fawn Set (possibly multiple other sets). The “+” is the cross from the little nurse bird in another Lawn Fawn Set as well. The “=” was just drawn in using a PITT pen. I used the steam that says “smile” on it, but I just wanted the steam and not the “smile”, so I masked that part off and stamped it twice. The gold embossed hearts are also from another Lawn Fawn Set. I used a ever so slightly larger one on the mug than with the sentiment. I ended up spritzing the black cardstock because I still do not own a embossing powder anti-static tool and I made a mess. I think the Luster Spray Mist hid my boo boo pretty well!

I’m playing along with the Coffee Lovers Bloghop because I LOVE coffee. I drink it 6 out of 7 days of the week and sometimes drink too much of it. HAHA. I hope you will play along too! Happy Fall Lawn Fawn Card

image

Yesterday was the first day of fall and, even though it hardly feels like it in AZ, I wanted to make a fall themed card.  Luckily I had the perfect stamp set for the job!  Lawn Fawn’s Sweater Weather stamp set has a great fall tree and some sweet sentiments . I made the background using distress inks and misted Hawaiian Shores Luster Spray Mist on it. The tree and leaves were done using distress inks and the stamps from the set.  The sentiment was stamped with pigment ink because I wanted it to stand out more.  I live near quite a few farms and around this time their fields look like neat lines of endless mud.  I am in the process of designing texture tools for use with modeling paste,  texture paste,  heavy paints,  etc. So, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give it a try.  I ended up mixing spackle with brown acrylic paint and laying it on the card using light pressure with my new tool.  If I had pushed down all the way,  the lines would have gone all the way down to the cardstock. To give it extra dimension,  I ran one of my brown alcohol markers across the top. I stamped a little on the inside using the argyle pattern from another Lawn Fawn Set.  I definitely should have practiced with those stamps before stamping inside the card.  It’s a little more sloppy looking than I would have liked.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what Fall looks like around my neighborhood! Thanks for stopping by.
